Research project of Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts

Storylab kiU wants to create space. On the one hand in the classical sense as a room with four walls and on the other in a metaphorical sense as a space for creative ideas created by minds thinking outside the box.

As an external part of the Design Department of Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, kiU is located on the first floor of the Dortmunder U since November 2016. kiU does not only understand itself as a work space and presentation room but also as a networking point and platform for creative people.

At kiU we develop innovative projects while focusing on storytelling using new technologies. Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, 3D and mobile apps are challenging - not only in terms of technology, but above all in terms of artistic design. How do you tell a story when the viewer can experience a scene interactively with 360 degrees of freedom? The kiUs answer to these questions is: experiment and cooperate.

Employees at kiU, students of the FH Dortmund, external artists and creatives work together to create multi-media installations in an open laboratory. To get insight into work you are welcome to visit us during opening hours of the Dortmunder U.
